HOMC Guided-Wave UT
Advanced amplitude-independent corrosion sizing under clamps, welded supports, and pipe wraps without clamp removal or surface preparation.
Appointed Thailand representative — Escon Dhvani (agreement 3 Feb 2026)What is HOMC?
HOMC (Higher Order Mode Cluster) is an advanced guided wave inspection technology developed at CNDE, IIT Madras (since 2009) and delivered commercially by Escon Dhvani. Unlike standard screening methods, HOMC is amplitude-independent, utilizing phase, frequency, and time-of-flight (ToF) metrics to accurately size wall loss and identify the deepest points of corrosion directly under structural pipe supports and clamps without any disassembly.
Technical Advancements
Traditional Long-Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) is highly dependent on signal amplitude, which is often dampened or scattered by clamp pressure, leading to false reports. HOMC bypasses this limit completely.
- •
Sees Past Welds: Propagates sound waves past inline weldments to size corrosion in critical areas.
- •
No Surface Prep Under Supports: Sensor arrays are placed adjacent to the support, requiring zero surface cleaning under the clamp.
- •
CUPS Scanner Integration: Utilizes the CHOMC pipe-support pulse-echo scanner for localized corrosion profiling.
